What if one of agriculture’s biggest waste problems could become one of its biggest solutions?

That is the mission behind Fayetteville-based Carbon Chicken Project, an Arkansas startup that uses regenerative agriculture and bio-circular technology to turn poultry waste into high-performance soil products.

This month, the company launched its Kickstarter campaign, “The Plant Food That Saves the Planet,” with the goal of raising $9,500 to expand production and bring its innovative soil amendments to more gardeners, farmers, and communities.

Founded by fifth-generation Arkansas farmer Jody Hardin and Operational Strategist Richard Ims, Carbon Chicken Project has spent more than a decade developing bio-circular technology that addresses two major issues: excess poultry litter runoff and depleted soil.

“Our mission is to create a carbon-negative future by transforming problematic waste into valuable resources,” said Hardin, CEO and co-founder of Carbon Chicken Project.

At the center of the campaign is Carbon Chicken 80:20, a professional-grade soil conditioner made from composted chicken litter and microbe-charged biochar. The product is designed to improve water retention, support soil biology, reduce runoff, and lock Carbon into the soil.

Kickstarter supporters can choose from rewards including product starter packs, farm experiences, personalized consultations with the founders, and commercial samples.

The campaign also gives supporters an opportunity to back a homegrown Arkansas company focused on sustainability.

The effort comes as the Carbon Chicken Project gains momentum, including recognition as a finalist for “Coolest Thing Made in Arkansas” and participation in the Ozark Retail Accelerator.

Richard Ims, COO and co-founder of Carbon Chicken Project, said the Kickstarter campaign is designed to help the company expand production and raise awareness of regenerative agriculture and sustainable soil solutions.

More than just a soil product, Carbon Chicken represents a larger movement toward cleaner waterways, healthier farms, and a more sustainable future.

With growing support behind the initiative, they hope to continue building awareness around regenerative agriculture and long-term environmental sustainability.
